Dr. Crystal S. P. Howe, Ed. D.
Dr. Crystal Howe is a visionary leader and long-time STEM educator with a career span of over two decades. Dr. Howe has dedicated herself to inspiring a love for learning and fostering academic excellence in her students. Her commitment to innovative education and equity has empowered countless learners and educators to exceed achievement and growth outcomes. Born and raised in the challenging but vibrant atmosphere of the South Bronx, Dr. Howe's journey as an educator began in the classroom, where she cultivated a reputation for excellence through her innovative teaching methods and unwavering commitment to student success. Over the years, she has served as a lead teacher, instructional coach, and founding dean of students, empowering and inspiring her colleagues to embrace data-driven instruction and implement best practices, resulting in measurable gains in student achievement. Inspired by her passion for school choice and transformative educational experience at an all-girls college preparatory school, Dr. Howe co-founded GO BIG, North Carolina's first all-girls STEM school. As the co-founder and founding school leader, Dr. Howe has played a pivotal role in shaping the school's vision and curriculum. Through her leadership, GO BIG continues to grow as a beacon of innovation and excellence in STEM education for girls. Dr. Howe’s dedication to educational equality excellence extends beyond the classroom. She spearheaded several initiatives that forged critical community partnerships to ensure all students have high-quality educational opportunities. Her commitment to social justice has earned her the admiration and respect of colleagues and community members. Dr. Howe's educational journey is marked by academic excellence and a commitment to lifelong learning. She holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Northcentral University, a Master of Education in Elementary Education from Mercy College, and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Yale University. Dr. Howe is a strategic thinker and collaborative leader who excels in organizational development and data-driven decision-making. Armed with a deep understanding of educational theory and practice, she inspires and encourages others to strive for excellence in education. Beyond her professional life, Dr. Howe is a dedicated spouse and foster parent. She enjoys spending quality time in a loving and supportive home with her spouse, four foster children, and cherished fur baby, Bud-Bud.

Tawana L. Wiggins, M.A. Ed. Admin.
Tawana L. Wiggins is more than an educator; she is a transformational leader dedicated to fostering nurturing environments where students and educators alike can thrive. With a career spanning over two decades, Tawana has been instrumental in shaping school communities that prioritize academic excellence, student empowerment, and holistic development. Born and raised in the vibrant city of Buffalo, NY, Tawana’s journey in education began in school counseling, where she developed a deep understanding of student needs and the power of supportive learning environments. Her passion for academic success and equity led her to the classroom as a science teacher, and later into leadership roles that allowed her to make a broader impact. Over the years, she has served as a curriculum facilitator, assistant principal, principal, and Chief Operating Officer, each role reinforcing her commitment to student achievement and school transformation. Under her leadership, schools have achieved a 100% graduation rate with all students receiving acceptances to colleges and universities, a testament to her unwavering dedication to student success. As the School Operations Officer at GO BIG Charlotte, Tawana brings a wealth of experience in strategic planning, operational excellence, and educational leadership. She plays a pivotal role in ensuring that the school functions efficiently, allowing teachers and students to focus on learning in a supportive and enriching environment. Her leadership is driven by a core belief that when given the right opportunities, every girl can excel beyond expectations and shape her own future. Tawana’s academic journey reflects her lifelong commitment to learning and growth. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Canisius College, a Master’s in Elementary Education from the University of Phoenix, and a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Gardner-Webb University. She also pursued doctoral studies in Educational Technology at the University of Phoenix, further solidifying her expertise in innovative learning strategies and school leadership. Beyond her professional life, Tawana is a devoted and loving mother and grandmother. Having lived in North Carolina for the past 19 years, she cherishes family time, community engagement, and moments of inspiration that fuel her passion for education. Tawana’s leadership at GO BIG Charlotte is rooted in her belief that education should be transformative, empowering, and accessible to all. With her strategic vision and compassionate approach, she continues to inspire students, educators, and families to dream big, work hard, and thrive.
